On Tuesday, 14th July 2026, White Wolf Mudo Ryu in Malta hosted its first official International Budo Federation (IBF) Malta mini-seminar. Running from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, this session brought together practitioners from White Wolf Mudo Ryu and The World Nickelstick Eskrima Club for a dynamic evening of skill-sharing, technique refinement, and community building.
The event highlighted the spirit of collaboration in martial arts, where different styles come together to learn, grow, and strengthen bonds within the broader Budo community.

Event Overview and Welcoming Atmosphere

The seminar took place in the welcoming dojo space of White Wolf Mudo Ryu in Pieta, with participants, ranging from dedicated students to senior instructors, gathered on the red and black training mats, ready to absorb new knowledge. Sensei Glenn Galea, founder and head instructor of White Wolf Mudo Ryu, led the hosting efforts, creating an environment focused on mutual respect and practical learning.

A highlight of the evening was the instruction led by Sensei Lee Hollins from The World Nickelstick Eskrima Club (Bulldog Nickelstick UK). As a 2nd level Balintawak student of Grand Master Martin Sillitoe, Sensei Lee brought authentic expertise in Filipino martial arts, specifically focusing on stick-based combat.
Students learned essential main stick blocks, striking points, and the critical importance of partner work and flow drills.
The session emphasised practical application, timing, and control — skills that translate directly to real-world self-defence scenarios.

In return, Sensei Glenn Galea demonstrated core White Wolf Mudo Ryu techniques. The session covered joint locks, hand releases, and comprehensive self-defence strategies — including effective responses to knife threats.
These demonstrations underscored Mudo Ryu’s combat-oriented approach, blending traditional principles with modern applicability. The energy in the room was electric as participants practised under the guidance of both instructors.
