Congratulations, Kat
Although Kat’s Mudo Ryu black belt rank was awarded earlier this year, the personalised belt was presented to her on 30 May, during the visit of IBF UK representative Sensei Lee Hollins from The World Nickelstick Eskrima Club (Bulldog Nickelstick UK).
Sensei Glenn Galea, the founder and head instructor of White Wolf Mudo Ryu and IBF Malta President, was the one to wrap the belt around her waist.
It was a straightforward dojo moment: the rank already earned, the belt made personal, and the people who train with her there to see it.

Under Sensei Glenn Galea, White Wolf Mudo Ryu is known for practical, reality-based martial arts systems — training that has to work when it counts, while remaining firmly rooted in traditional budo values. As part of the International Budo Federation, students have a structured, internationally recognised path, while the Mudo Ryu system keeps its own character.
Kat isn’t just a student at the club; she’s a constant, reliable part of the White Wolf family. She serves as IBF Malta Vice President, a White Wolf Instructor and Assistant Instructor for Combat Budo International, and she also leads the Budo Ladies group. All those roles sit right alongside the hours she spends on the mat.

Budo does not ask one to become someone else. It asks one to meet oneself honestly, again and again, until that honesty is the teaching.
She doesn’t try to stand above anyone. She just stays true to herself, and in doing so, she encourages everyone else to be better.
This black belt recognises what she’s already accomplished, but it also marks the start of new responsibilities as a senior practitioner and leader.
Thank you, Kat, for the hard training, for your commitment to developing martial arts in Malta, and for the spirit you have shown throughout the journey. It is well deserved.
The entire White Wolf Mudo Ryu and IBF Malta family, and visiting friends from the UK, share in this celebration.
Oss.
